Estudio sistemático y ecológico del género Tigridia (Iridaceae)

Description

Se llevó a cabo una excursión botánica a fin de colectar material vegetativo y ejemplares de herbarios de las especies de Tigridieae en México y Guatemala. Al mismo tiempo se hicieron observaciones sobre la ecología y biología floral de las diferentes especies. La colecta botánica se realizó del 20 de junio al 20 de agosto de 1996 y participaron en ella el autor de este reporte y los biólogos Ofelia Vargas, Eduardo Villegas y Chris Martinelli. El material vegetativo será utilizado para el estudio filogenético de este grupo de plantas basado en el análisis del ácido desoxi-ribonucleico. (ADN). En Guatemala se colectó en los departamentos de Alta Verapaz y Sacatepéquez y en México en los estados de Nayarit, Michoacán, México, Morelos, Hidalgo, Puebla, Guerrero, Oaxaca y Chiapas. La colecta fue financiada por Consejo de Museos de Historia Natural de la Universidad de Wisconsin, la Comisión Nacional para el Conocimiento y uso de la Biodiversidad y recursos propios. Como resultado se colectaron 35 taxa de los géneros Cipura, Cobana, Cypella, Euletherine, Fosteria, Rigidella, Sessilanthera, Tigridia. Una excursión similar se llevó a cabo durante el verano de 1995 (Rodríguez et al., en prensa ) En aquella ocasión, se recolectaron 33 taxa de los géneros Sphenostigma, Eleutherine, Fosteria, Nemastylis, Rigidella, Sessilanthera y Tigrida. Los resultados de ambas colectas fueron organizados en una base de datos siguiendo los reglamentos establecidos por la CONABIO. Un total de 52 taxa y 159 colecciones integran la base.
