Description
El proyecto tiene por objetivo evaluar la situación poblacional y amenazas a las que está sujeto el maguey noa (Agave victoriae-reginae, Agavaceae) para fundamentar la revisión de su estatus en la CITES. Se sistematizará la información sobre su taxonomía, nomenclatura y distribución con base en datos ya existentes y mediante muestreos de campo se generará información sobre su biología, situación poblacional, distribución geográfica actual y potencial, hábitats en los que se encuentra y datos sobre amenazas, extracción o comercio a las que está sujeto. Su categoría de riesgo será evaluada por el método MER. La información generada permitirá proponer recomendaciones preliminares destinadas a asegurar la conservación y el adecuado aprovechamiento de esta especie y evaluar la pertinencia de mantener o de modificar su estatus en los Apéndices de la CITES.
